NEW LYNN THEFT
SAFE BLOWN OPEN After forcing an entrance through iho back door of the New Lynn Borough Council chambers, a thief blow the door off a safe on Friday night and >tolo the contents of the enshbox, totalling £3 7s in petty cash. The office had been securely locked on Friday night, but the following morning it was found that a section of the back door had been removed, enabling the thief to release the lock and unscrew a nut which held an iron bar in position. A charge of gelignite had been packed in the keyhole of the safe and exploded with a detonator, wrecking the door of the safe.
