Nightbeam created a surprise by winning the fiowley Mile from Clouston and .Bourbon. The consistent colt Ensign set a cracking pace in the Quality Handicap, spread-eagling a good field. High Caste scored comfortably jn the Clarendon Stakes from Huzalong and St. Constant.
