IN IMPERIAL SERVICE
AUCKLAND NURSE RETURNS A member of the Queen Alexandria Imperial Nursing Service, Miss Kathleen Thomson, arrived at Auckland yesterday by the flying-boat Awarua from Sydney to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Thomson, of Ciive Road, Epsom. Miss Thomson, who trained at the Waikato Hospital and was a New Zealand gold medallist, joined the British Military Nursing Service about four and a-half years ago and was first stationed at Aldershot. Later she was sent to Shanghai and Hongkong and was there when the decision was made to evacuate the wives and families of the British forces to Australia. Miss Thomson sailed with the evacuees as nurse in charge. She expects to be in Auckland about a month before returning to Shanghai.
