49 YEARS' SERVICE

BUSINESS MANAGER RETIREMENT OF MR. S. EVANS

The record of the manager, Mr. S. Evans, of the Papakura branch of fte Farmers' Trading Company, of 49 yean continuous service in one store was celebrated last evening at the branch, when hundreds of customers were present to say farewell to Mr. Evans on his retirement. The company was represented by Mr. A. D. Bell, vicechairman, Mr. C. McKay, assistant manager, Mr. W. Crouch, secretary, and Mr. H. E. Penrose, branch supervisor.

Mr. A. D. Bell paid a tribute to the loyal and faithful service Mr. Evans had given the company. He had also been elected the first Mayor of the borough in 1935. Mr. Evans had well earned his retirement. Mr. Bell then presented Mr. Evans with a cheque and an appreciative letter from the directors. He was granted leave 61 absence for nine months on full salary.
