Two New Names
Dean Jagger and Joe Cotton are two now names lor your notebooks: .Tagger has the title role in "Brigham Young," and has so impressed Darryl Zatiuck that the producer signed him to a long term contract without waiting for his option to fall due. Nobody took any notice of Jagger when he was in Hollywood a few years ago. Like many actors he had to go to Broadway to be discovered bv films.
Joe Cotton is a Katherine Hepburn discovery (he was her leading man in the stage version of "Philadelphia Story") and is the most sought-after young actor in Hollywood at the moment. Orson Welles wants him for "Citizen Kane," Claudette Colbert would like him for her new picture, "Arise My Love," Joe Pasternak lias offered him an important role in Dietrich's "Seven Sinners," and George Cukor is after him for the film of "Philadelphia Story." James Stewart, by the way, will have the romantic lead in the Hepburn picture.*
