Springtime
I rose up early this morning And searched the whole garden Jor Spring, They told me that she Was dancing, All around in a fairy ring.
1 saw a crocus peeping, Shyly behind a tree, But 1 could not see a fairy, Dear Spring, oh, where Was she? I heard a tinkle oj laughter, Rippling soft and low, And so I Watched the streamlet, The water began to flow. Then 1 saw a white lambkin, Close by its mother's side, Half afraid of presence, I felt sure it Was trying to hide.
Then I heard a beautiful tui, High up in a kauri, sing, And 1 understood that such treasures Must be the heralds of Spring. —'Original, by Fay Price (14), D.M.B.G
