RICH WOMAN REFUGEE
A woman refugee from France who arrived at an English south east port after the Nazi invasion, produced £IO,OOO worth of jewellery to the Customs authorities. Another refugee had gems valued at £IOOO, while one Frenchman had a large quantity of jewel lory wrapped in newspapers tied to a pedal cycle.
