DUEL IN WELLINGTON
The story of an early Wellington duel between one of his ancestors. Dr. Featherston, and Colonel William Wakefield was told by Mr. Justice Johnston at a meeting of the New Zealand Founders' Society in Wellington, l'istols were the weapons chosen, said His Honor. Dr. Featherston got in the first shot, after which Colonel Wakefield fired his shot into the air, with the comment that he would not shoot a man with seven daughters.
