POET BOWEN -.WRECK VALUABLE MATERIAL SAVED VISIT PAID BY MINISTER [DV TELEGRAPH —rnKSS ASSOCIATION"] WAXGANUI, Thursday Tho Port Bowen wreck, which is being dismantled whore it is lying, close inshore at Cast I eel iff, "Wanganui, was visited by tlie Minister of Supply, tho Hon. D. G. Sullivan, yesterday. The Minister said he was immensely impressed with tho value to New Zealand of the work being done and tho progress made. Tho vessel, Mr. Sullivan said, contained 8000 tons of material, which was being reclaimed—material comprising steel plates, steel angle iron and girders, machinery, refrigerating gear, nautical instruments, and a considerable quantity of non-ferrous metals, which are valuablo in normal times, but almost beyond price at present, when tho difficulty of obtaining sufficient supplies of many things constitutes a major problem to tho Ministry of Supply. Somo SO men are employed on the work, which will take many more months.
