CONTROL OF BUILDING
GOVERNMENT IN BRITAIN SCHEME FOR LICENSING British "Wireless LONDON. Sept. 25 The Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Bevin, who is chairman of the Government Works and Building Priority Committee, has announced direct Government control over building and civil engineering works by a licensing system. It will come into operation on October 7. No licence will he needed for the following:—Operations undertaken by a Government department; operations paid for in whole or in part by the Government; operations costing less than £500; maintenance works; repairs; decorations. Special arrangements have been made for the release of controlled material for urgent building work necessitated by air-raid damage.
