ELECTIONS NEXT YEAR
MR. HAMILTON'S ASSERTION NO CAUSE FOR POSTPONEMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Tuesday "There is no basis for supposing that the elections will not be held next year," stated the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. A. Hamilton, who proceeds to Wellington to-day. "Elections have already been held in Canada and Australia, which are at war just as we are. Nothing has occurred to give rise to the supposition that the elections will not be held."

Tuesday "The question of the general election or its postponement has not been discussed or even thought of by the Government 'or the Government party," said the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, when his attention was drawn this evening to the statement made in Dunedin by the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. A. Hamilton. "The country's war effort," added the Prime Minister, "is a big enough job for everyone at the present time." THE PAHIATUA SEAT NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION*] PAHIATUA, Tuesday At a meeting of the electoral committee of the National Party for the Pahiatua electorate, Mr. K. J. Holyoake, former member for Motueka, intimated his acceptance of an invitation to be the official National Party candidate at the next election as successor to .Sir Alfred Ransom, who will not be seeking re-election. Mr. Holyoake intends at an early date to take up permanent residence in tho electorate.
