NEW BUILDINQ OPENED . i. ' ' y VISIT BY HON. P. C.| WEBB [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] Friday A modern post office in• Taupo was officially opened by the General, the Hon.. P. C. Webb, to-day. Tlie new office is on the comer of the Taupo Domain, right in the. centre of the main street. The building contains the) post office, telephone exchange and postmaster's residence, and cost £5176. ' It is con* sidered the building will meet the needs of the district for the next 10 years. ; The new postmaster appointed to take./ charge is Mr. W. E. Smith, from the Rotorua. office. * ". /J The opening ceremony thas afternoon attracted one of the largest gatherings seen in Taupo for a long time. Dr. Armstrong,' chairman of the Taupo Road Board, introduced Mr. Webb and .f Mr. A. F. Moncur, M.P. if or Rotorua, briefly addressed the gaiiiering. - Sir. Sullivan, representing the builders, presented the Minister with a travel* ling clock as a memento.; Mr. Webb said he was; most inter- , ested in the welfare of Taupo, ana... would always do all in his power to further its interest.
