Septic tanks arc preferably constructed of concrete, but the concrete must be dense, waterproof and of the very best quality, as on such concrete sewage has been found to have no effect. Tanks may be either precast or built in situ. The former as a rule, especially for ordinary household purposes, are found to be much cheaper than and as equally efficient as the latter.
