WAGES INCREASE QUESTION DEMAND FOR FIVE PER CENT [bt telegraph —OWN correspondent] GRSYMOUTH, Thursday Following a stopwork meeting which was held by the miners on arrival at work this morning, the. Dobson mine was idle to-day. A special meeting of the union was held at .Wallsend t is afternoon and work will be resumed to-morrow. In a, statement this evening, Mr. W• Purely, president of the Grey Valley Workers' Union, said that the mine was stopped" on the question as 0 whether the 5 per cent wages increase granted by the Arbitration Court applied to other/dnions. "We are of tne opinion that are entitled to the per cent increase as well as anybo y else," said Mr. Purdy, "and consider that it should bo added to the 5 per cent that has already been granted to the miners."
