CHANCE FOR BLOMFIELD CONTEST AT TOWN HALL John Katan, who is to have a return bout with Sorgeant-Major Lofty Blomfield at the Auckland Town Hall on Monday night, has shown that he is a real Empire champion in every sense of the term. He has displayed no hesitation in accepting challenges, and he has disposed of them in a way that has clearly indicated that whoever is to succeed him will have to be a particularly fine matman. There were many who thought that Earl MrCread.v would be able to regain the title when he met Katan at Wellington this week, but once again McCready found that the task of beating Katan was beyond even his great prowess. However, Blomfield's supporters find comfort in the fact that their champion has repeatedly shown himself able to rise to big occasions. There was only a disputed fall between him and Katan in their previous match in the local ring, the display as a whole leaving considerable reason for hope that Blomfield may yet become the Empire champion.
