GOODS AND MONEY TAKEN

[RY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Friday Breaking camp at Ngaruawahia on May 16, James Albert Kean, a member of the 7th Anti-Tank Corps, converted a motor-cycle and commenced a career of crime that came to a full stop this morning, when he appeared in the Police Court and admitted six charges relating to the theft of goods and money, of a total value of £23; the committing of mischief and the conversion of a cycle.

The police said that Kean made his first stop at Hawera, where ho stole some clothing, and later worked his way down through the South Island to Dunedin. Hero lie occupied a room in a hotel with another man who was the worse for liquor, and stole £7 10s from him. This money, the cycle and practically all the articles and money involved had been recovered. Kean. who had been posted as a deserter, was ordered to be held in custody until to-morrow, when the military authorities will take charge of him. Tho charges agahist him were adjourned sine die.
