FIRST AID SERVICE

EMERGENCY SCHEME APPEAL FOR PERSONNEL A shortage of trained personnel for first aid posts is causing some concern to the medical and public health technical group committee of the Emergency Precautions Scheme , Organisation, and a call is being made for those willing to receive training or who have already received instruction to enrol for emergency service. The chairman of the group committee, Mr. Allan J. Moody, said yesterday that the committee was perturbed at the position. In the event of an emergency it was imperative that they should have trained and competent people to staff the first aid posts to give skilful assistance to the wounded. The committee had authorised him to invite all those who were willing to be trained for . this work-, to get in touch with the St. John Ambulance Association and the Red Cross Society, with whom arrangements had been made to train them properly. In addition it was desired to appeal to those who had already received the requisite training to enrol at once. It was pointed out by Air. Moody that the services of men were more particularly wanted. . Normally the foe for tho course or first aid training as given by the St. John Ambulance Association is 7s bd, but it was announced" last 'night by Mr. S. E. Langstone that the association would give a free course of training to recognised E.P.S. wardens and those volunteering for first aid post service.
