NEW CITY VALUER
YACANCY FILLED
MR. N. W. KENNY APPOINTED
LONG SERVICE WITH COUNCIL
On the recommendation of its Finance Committee, the City Council yesterday appointed Mr. N. W. Kenny, assistant city valuer, to the position of city valuer, registrar of electors and returning officer, in succession to Mr. P. F. Notley, who retired in January after 36 years' service. The appointment will take effect from July 1. Mr. Kenny, who has been in the council's employ for nearly 27 years, had seven years' experience with a Wellington firm of sharebrokers and
estate agents before he was engaged as a clerk in the city valuer's office in September, 1913. He performed general office work until 1917, when he was made an acting-valuer and given outside duty. In May, 1922, he was formally appointed a valuer by the council, and since then he has been second in charge of the staff. He carried out the duties of city valuer for six months in 1930 during Mr. Notley's absence. For six months from July 1, Mr. Notley will be on retiring leave. Until the expiration of that period, on January 1, 1941, Mr. Kenny will be regarded as acting-city valuer, registrar of electors and returning officer.
