ASPHYXIATION VERDICT
[by telegraph—own correspondent] ROTORUA, Saturday A verdict that death was due to asphyxiation was returned by the coroner, Mr. L. W. Richards, at Rotorua at the adjourned inquest into the death of Mr. Alan Birnie and Mr. Donald MeLban. who were found dead in bed in the qld isolation ward which has been used as a "doss house" in Rotorua. Evidence was [riven that both the deceased had been under the influence of drink during tho previous afternoon. The fact that the bedding and floor of the room were found smouldering, it was stated, suggested that a cigarette butt had set fire to the bedding. ■
