VOLCANO ERUPTS
50 JAPANESE KILLED (Received July 14, 6.30 p.m.) TOKIO, July 13 It is reported that 50 people have been killed and 50 are missing from a village on Kiyake Island, as a result of the eruption of Mount Yuzan, the first since 1874. \ The destroyer Okishima has been despatched with provisions and medical supplies, and a minesweeper also has been sent to rescue a number of islanders who took refuge temporarily in the village of Izu. In addition the steamer Daifuku Maru is proceeding to the scene. A typhoon in Keijo, Chosen (Korea), killed o2 people and injured 100. Thousands are homeless. Soldiers are patrolling to prevent looting. One hundred nridgos have been demolished.
