FOOTBALLERS INJURED
FIVE PLAYERS IN HOSPITAL Two footballers suffered broken legs in Saturday's matches and were admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Those injured were John Brownlow King, aged 18, of 93 Vauxhall Road, Devonport, who was playing for Takapuna Grammar School against Auckland Grammar School at Epsom Show Grounds, and Boy Edward Douglas, aged 17, of Glenficld Road, Birkenhead, a member of the fifth grade Nortlicoto Rugby League team. Another League player, Thomas Norman Cowley, aged 17, of 25 East Street, Newton, fractured his arm while playing for Newmarket, and Keith Arthur Coubrev, aged 18. of 8 How'e Street, Newton, suffered mild concussion in addition to a broken wrist. An Auckland representative player, William Ernest Smith, single, aged 25, of 166 Green Lane Road, fractured his jaw during the match against Waikato at Eden Park.
