RED CROSS WORK
WAIKATO ACTIVITIES [from OUJI OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday Reference to the line work being done in the Waikato by the district centre of the Red Cross Society is contained in the annual repqrt of the Dominion organisation. The report states that Red Cross activity in the district lias made most gratifying progress since its inauguration in September, 1939. A pleasing feature is the fine interest evident in the work of the Maoris in the district, under the leadership of Princess Te Puea Herangi. There are 30 sub-centres in the Waikato, the total membership being 3740, including 1352 Maori members. Classes in first aid, home nursing, hygiene and air raid precautions have been held, and voluntary aid work has been taken up with zest, many members having completed their 60 hours' training.
