SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE LARGE CROWDS ATTRACTED WINNING COMPETITORS [kho.u ouk own* coiuikstoxoknt] WHANGAREI, Sunday Concluding on Saturday night, the AYlinngnrei Centennial Winter Show whs far more successful than had been expected. The gate takings exceeded £'6so, slightly more than in .1038, and only £'oo less than the record established last year. Tho attendances during the last two days wero heavy, Friday being a record for any single day of tho show during any year. Tho most interesting exhibit was tho display oT clocks from the collection of Mr. A. Claphnin, of Whareroa. In this collection were over 50 clocks, tho oldest type being the waterclock used about 200 B.C. The model section also attracted considerable attention, especially the model engines exhibited by Air. F. Roberts, of Auckland.
