His lm 47.7s for tho half-mile and lm 47s for tho 800 jnetres wero even better than the outdoor times set by the Englishman, Sidney Wooderson, last year. And Borican. not to bo completely outdone, broko a 3 5-year-old indoor record when ho ran three-quarters of a mile in 3m 1.25.

Another negro, Jim Herbert, ran tho fastest quarter-milo (48.45), and 400 metres (47.95), ever recorded indoors, his time for the Quarter at last beating tlio mark of <tn.(is established by Tom Tlalpin in 1013. Then, in a mile relay, a New York University quartette, Stanford Braun, Jim McPoland, Harold Bogrow, Jim Herbert, made a record-breaking 3m 15s. and set up a IGOO metres record whilo on their way.
