TWO YOUTHS FOR TRIAL
ALLEGED ENTRY TO SHOP Charged with breaking and entering the Auckland Meat Company's shop in Queen Street, Onehunga, on June 20, with intent to commit a crime, two youths, Norman Jack Andrew (.Mr. M. Robinson) and Anthony John Buckman (Mr. B. \V. El worth), pleaded not guilty and were committed for trial bv Messrs. J. E. Green and J. E. Cowell, J.P.'s, in the Onehunga Police Court yesterday. Evidence was given that the manager of the shop, Mr. E. B. Taylor, saw an intruder escaping through the hack door as he entered the front. Entrance to the premises had been gained by a small window at the rear. Two bicycles were left in front of the shop. Both accused were arrested when they came for the bicycles. Buckman, a former employee of the company, said he went to recover a boning knife and hook belonging to him. A plea for the reduction of the charge to "being on the premises without lawful excuse" was disallowed. Bail was fixed at £IOO and one surety of £IOO each. On a further charge of having broken into the premises of the Auckland Bottle Company. Khyher Pass Road, on April 25. and stealing cash and goods to the value of £2 12s, the accused were remanded to appear at the Auckland Magistrate's Court on July 11.
