LABOUR ASSISTANCE VALUE IN INDUSTRY LORD BEAVERBROOK'S POST APPOINTMENT FAVOURED British Wireless LONDON, May 15 The general significance of the Labour co-operation in the Churchill administration as contributing to the stabilisation of the industrial war efTort is emphasised in the press. The Times says the Labour leaders will know the necessity for creating an industrial labour force equal to the increasing demands of the three fighting services for necessary strength in numbers and the highest efficiency in arms and equipment. "The Army, Navy and Air Force have their bases in the workshops," it adds. "The lives of our men and victory itself are in a large measure in the hands of the men and women in the workshops. A positive constructive effort is needed for national unity in the -workshop. "Full measures to be adopted must leave no doubt that for the duration of the war profit-making is no longer a mainspring of business, but is superseded by public service." The appointment of Lord Beaverbrook to the new Ministry of Aircraft Production receives widespread approval. The Daily Telegraph says there could hardly be a better choice. Lord Beaverbrook's great ability, originality and resourcefulness warrant the confidence that he will succeed in a post where success can do much to shorten the war. The News Chronicle says that Lord Beaverbrook has the capacity for ruthlessness and rapid decision, such as few men possess. The Yorkshire Post says many hopes will centre now on Lord Beaverbrook as the wielder of an impetuous driving force.
