THE LEAGUE CODE
REFEREES COMPLIMENTED A welcome was extended by the' Auckland Rugby League Referees' Association at its meeting last evening to the chairman of the Auckland Ruby League control board, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, who is a member of the Referees Appointment Board. Mr. Campbell said it was considered that the refereeing had reached a'high standard and, if maintained, would greatly assist the game. Referees, because of the speed and changes in play, required to be as fit as the players. He was pleased to see that the referees wero penalising late charging, while line umpires were doing their part toward efficient match control. The official critic, Mr. A. Sanders, gavo an address on the importance of the advantage rule. The resignation of Mr. A. Kinnaird was received with resret.
