SIR JULIAN SOLD

NOW UNDER M. HOLMES RECEPTION RETURNING TO RACE AGAINST PACERS [BY TKT.KOKAI'U OWN COKIIKSI'ON.DKNT] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday Sir Julian, winner of last season's New Zealand Sapling Stakes for Mr. W. Crozier, was submitted for auction last week, but he was passed in at 550gns. He was sold privately later to Messrs. Scott and McFarlane, owners of a number of light-harness performers, including Imperial Jade and Gerfalcon. An exceptionally big juvenile, Sir Julian is regarded as the makings of a great performer. He has done little racing, but in all his appearances he has proved himself to he speedy and reliable, and lie should prove a good investment. He has been taken over by M. Holmes, who has the handling of the other trotters und pacers raced by aMcssrs. Scott and McFarlane. W. ,T. Wheeler has made arrangements to return to Cambridge with Reception and Flash Bye, leaving here by to-nijjhfs boat. Flash Bye, a sister to Reception, is a novice performer, but her form in Canterbury has been far from impressive, However, Reception has proved hersolf a useful trotter, She won at the recent Addington meeting in an impressive manner, to take a mile and a-half record of 3.20. She will have few opportunities in her own department in the Auckland district now, but it is her owner's intention to match her against the pacers in the principal handicap at the approaching Cambridge meeting.
