CRICKET SEASON

- SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION EVEN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP The senior grade championship under the control of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association has reached a stage when it attracts more than usual interest. Only one moro series remains to bo played and officials cannot recall a moro even competition. Manukau, which leads in tho competition, has played consistently well, although perhaps it was a little fortunate to beat Green Lano last Saturday. Green Lane made a fine effort in scoring: 152 runs for three wickets in its second innings and Manukau was hard pressed to play out time. Judging from tho way the Green Lano bowlers dominated the second innings of Manukau, an outright win may havo resulted with another 20 minutes' play. However, Manukau played the gamo in a fine spirit and its success against last year's champion team was popular. Tt.V. has mado a remarkable rise to second position, ono point behind Manukau. At the commencement of tho second round R.V. was in last place, but by consistently good play its riso is justified. It was no disgraco to Brixton to bo beaten by R.V., which secured tho first outright win of tho season. R.V. will ■ play Green Lano next Saturday and tho result will have an important bearing on tho championship. .
