HOUSE SHORTAGE
BOSITION AT OTAtf UHU "I cannot understand people buying houses when they know there is small chance of getting possession," remarked Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court at Ota'nuhu yesterday, when applications were made for possession of houses occupied by tenants.
The plaintiffs said they had purchased' the houses last July and made repeated attempts to find suitable alternative accommodation for the tenants. The tenants, who opposed the applications, said it was impossible to obtain a house in the Otahuhu district. Application lind been made to the State Housing Department without resuitj stated one of the tenants. He had boon in tenancy for nine years. In adjourning the cases for one month the magistrate suggested that the tenant should advise the department of his position in the hope of a house being made available.
