PIANOFORTE RECITAL

MR. PETER COOPER An outstanding pianoforte recit? I was given by the young Dominion! pianist Mr. Peter Cooper before an appreciative audience in the Lewis Eady Hall last night. Mr. .Cooper, who was awarded a scholarship last year for study at the Royal Academy of Music, showed qualities of technique and interpretation of a high order. Especiallv was this evident 311 the first piece on the programme, "Organ Prelude and Fugue in G Minor" (Bach-Szanto), which was played with distinctive character and strength. Other composers featured were Beethoven, Liszt, Ravel and Chopin, whose "Prelude in B Flat Minor j Opus 28, Number 16" was rendered in brilliant fashion. A further recital will bo given on Thursday night.
