ENTERTAINMENTS

.MAJESTIC THEATRE An unusually entertaining programme has been selected for the Majestic Theatre, where "Little Accident." in which Baby Sandy, Hugh Herbert and .Florence Rice appear, and "These Glamour Girls" will continue their successful season to-day. Pictures of tho Prime Minister's funeral at Point Bastion will be shown at all sessions commencing this afternoon. CIVIC THEATRE The famous comedy team of the Marx Brothers makes one of its rare appearances in the hilarious l'arce "At the Circus," which is in its second week at the Civic Theatre. In their inimitable way the three brothers thoroughly disorganise the circuc and proceed to reorganise it to their own satisfaction. The story gives tlipm opportunity to display their remarkable musical talents. Kenny Baker also appears. RECENT THEATRE "Beau Ocste," the film version of P. C. Wren's outstanding romance of the Foreign Legion, will again head the programme at the Regent Theatre today. The main role is taken by Gary Cooper. ST. JAMES' THEATRE Two of the most popular players of the screen, Mickey Rooncy and Judy Garland, arc the principals in tho gay musical film "Babes in Arras," which continues, to attract large audiences to St. James' Theatre. The associate programme includes first pictures of Mr. Savage's funeral. PLAZA THEATRE . Louis Broinfield's absorbing novel of the Indian scene, "The Rains Came" is now enjoying its fifth week at the Plaza Theatre. All the tense scenes of the original, with the same finelydrawn characters, arc included in this lavish 20th Century-Fox production. Leading roles are portrayed by Tyrone Power, George Brent and Myrna Loy. CENTURY THEATRE The famous Keystone Cops, the Mack Scnnett Bathing Beauties, custard pic comedies and the first talking picture are all commemorated in 20th CenturyFox's novel technicolour production "Hollywood Cavalcade," which is playing an extended season at the Century Theatre. The story traces the evolution of what is easily the foremost of modern entertainments, and the film reproduces many scenes from famous silent films. One of the most dramatic moments is the advent of sound, and once more is heard the voice of A 1 Jolson singing "Kol Nidre" from "The Jazz Singer." Leading roles in this saga of the film capital arc played by Alice Faye and Don Amcche. " Also showing is an hilarious comedy entitled "Mexican Spitfire," with Leon Errol and Cecil Kcllaway prominently cast. Next chanec at the Century will be "Daytime Wife," a sophisticated eomedv with Tyrone Power and Linda Darnell, who created somewhat of a sensation in "Hotel for Women." ->■

ROXY AND TIVOLI THEATRES The entertaining double-feature programme to be shown again to-day _ at the Roxy and Tivoli Theatres comprises the films "The Cisco Kid and Tho Lady" and "Mother by Proxy." In the first film the role of the dashing Mexican bandit, created- some years ago bv Warner Baxter, is taken by Cesar Romero, and he plays the.part to perfection. Opposite him appears Marjorie Weaver, while the supporting cast includes George Montgomery. Robert Barrat, Virginia Field juid Harrv Green. The second attraction, "Mother by Proxy." is a Columbia production featuring Lyle Talbot and the talented staao actress Margo. "Wynne Gibson and Walter Abel also appear. OXFORD THEATRE' The turbulent disorder of a typical Western town in the early days of last century is reproduced in technicolour in Warner Brothers' melodrama "Dodge City." which is the current attraction at tho Oxford Theatre. Errol Flymi and Olivia dc Havilland are prominently cast. The associate film is "Nancy Drew, Trouble-Shooter." STRAND THEATRE Another of the stirring adventure stories of Clarence E. Mulford is brought to the screen in "Range War*" the main attraction on the doublefeature programme at the Strand Theatre. William Boyd again has the leading role as Hopalong Cassidy. Also to be presented is "Some Like.lt Hot," a bright musical production in which Bob Hope and Shirley Ross appear.

CRYSTAL PALACE AND RIALTO A bright comedy of newspaper life, "The Housekeeper's Daughter," beads the current programme at tho Crystal Palace and Rialto Theatres. The picture "20.000 Men a Year" is the associate feature. STATE THEATRE Camera magic in all the glories of moddVn technicolour is a feature of Metro -Goldwv 11 - Mayer's sensational fantasy "Tile Wizard of Oz," which is attracting largo audiences to tho State Theatre nightly. At tho afternoon sessions "From Manger to Cross" is being shown. EMBASSY THEATRE Although several times winner of tho Academy award, Betto Davis has never given a* finer portrayal than in "Dark Victory," which is still showing at the Embassy Theatre. Another .attractive young singer in Gloria .lean appears in "The Undorpup." which will bo seen shortly. Yekterdav'.s funeral will bo included in tho nowsreels.
