PULPIT REFERENCES LIFE-WORK APPRECIATED WELFARE OF FELLOW MEN Thoughts at the religions services of all denominations yesterday wen; directed to the passing of the Prime, Minister, and many tributes were paid from pulpits to his character and his great humanitarian work. There was a large attendance at the special memorial sendee in St. Matthew's Church in the evening, when the worshippers included representatives of Stale and civic authorities, members of the Consular Corps and officers of the Navy, Army and Air Force, as well as representatives of other organisations. The preacher was Canon K. G. Coats. The Waterside Workers' Band played the Dead March in "Saul." Describing Mr. Savage as "a steward who was found faithful," the Rev. W. Power Mlack. at the morning service in St. David's Presbyterian Church, spoke of It is unselfish services to the community. The choir sang "Crossing the .Bar," and the National Anthem' was also sung. Averill. of AII Saints', Ponsonby, at an oflicial service in Mr. Savage's electorate of Auckland West yesterday morning. The service was attended by Mr. 11.-G.
