RECIPROCAL TRADE
EXTENSION OF TREATIES WASHINGTON, March r JO The Senate to-day defeated by 44 votes to 41 Mr. Key Pittnmn's amendment to the Reciprocal Trade Bill. A major victory for the Government is indicated with the passage of the bill next week. The bill provides for an extension of the trade treaties.. Mr. Pittman urged that the Act would be constitutional, only if it provided that the agreements be ratified by two-thirds of the Senate. The Government argued that such an amendment would nullify the measure.
