CITY AND SUBURBS v V ' ■ • DAMAGE TO TWO HOUSES Four small fires occurred in.Auckland i on Saturday. An outbreak behind a voltmeter in the workshop o:t Lewis E:i :lv, Limited, in High Street, wns extinguished without difficulty when twengines wore called from the Centri.l fire, station shortly after 10 o'clock in the morning. V shed at a residence occupied by Mi;. H. Beardon at 27 Princess Street, Oi was destroyed by fire later in the morning. The residence is owned by Mrs. M. Fan-ell, of Trafalgar Strait, Oiehunga. Engines from Mount Res- ; ki l and. Onehunga attended the fire. A bedroom on the top iloor, roofing ai: d weather-boards of a two-storeyed house occupied by Mr. R. McLean, at 13 Wocd Street, Ponsonby. were damaged by fire caused by painters burn- ; in; off paint shortly before four o'clock in the afternoon. Engines from tae C< ntral station and the Western D:istr ets s'.ation attended the outbreak. An attached wash-house and the wiill aid ceiling of a bedroom of a residence ovned and occupied by Mr. l'\ Heui, af 32 Wheturangi Road. One Tree Hill, w ire extensively damaged by fir® . shortly before 10 o'clock on Saturdaj ni ;ht. ' The house and its contents are insured with the New Zealand 1 nsi,nance Company for £1430. Engines from R'jmue;:a and Great South Road attended the fire.
