SLIGHT EARTHQUAKES
SERIES AT WIIAKATANE SEVERAL GROUPS OF THREE WHITE ISLANp ACTIVITY [nv TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] WIIAKATANE, Friday Slight earthquakes were felt in Whakatane to-dav. groups' ot three coming at 4.5 a.m. and 8.8 a.m. and others shortly after 10 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. The tremors were preceded by a loud rumble. They have not caused any damage. White Island this morning was seen to he very active, with a lofty column of vapour ascending from the crater.
