PROPHETIC SPRING
CLOSE OF WAR PREDICTED " TOWARD END OF MAY" [FROM A SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT] LONDON, March 9 There is a*spring in Lorraine, France, which, it is claimed, forecasts the end of wars in which France is engaged. According to this spring, the present war will end in May. Tradition lias it that the spring only begins to How three months before the end of each of" the wars involving France. Jll the last war it started to flow on .August 10. 1018. so the story goes. The spring is also reported to have forecast the end of the war of 1870 with equal accuracy. It was reported this week that the spring has started to trickle again, which means that toward the end of May the war should be over. Legends declare that the cause of the spring is Saint Odile. who weeps for jov when she senses that the end of the war is near, and her tears cause the spring to flow. s
