The First Film Hitler
The first screen Hitler (apart from comedy caricatures) will be little Billy Russell, who is playing the Fuehrer in "Gestapo." starring Margaret Lockwood and Rex Harrison. Russell has grown a Chaplin moustache for the role and, with the aid of a little make-up, he looks surprisingly like "that man". He is not at all happy about it. Small boys follow him in the streets in the neighbourhood of Shepherd s Bush, hissing and booing. He first noticed his resemblance to the dictator two years ago when he was playing in "Penny Paradise," and had to grow n toothbrush moustache for his characterisation of a dock labourer. "When." he said, "I first saw the result in a mirror I got, the shock of my lite." \\ ho wouldn't ?
