FAIRY-TALE DESIGNS ON STAMPS

tjOME really delightful new stamps have recently become available. Perhaps you have been able to get copies for your collection. They are "charity" issues from Belgium, Holland and the Dutch East Indies. Each stamp in these sets is sold at more than its postal value, the extra money thus raised going to funds to help poor children. The Dutch stamps have a quaint "fairy-tale" design. A little boy, in liis nightgown, is seated beside a stream and is playing a whistle. The music has attracted a dove, and a queer Jittle fish is popping his head up out" of the water, too. value, which is illustrated, is printed in grey, and bears a 1$ cent surtax. The other values in this series are: 30. (marone) and 4c. (green), each with a 2c. tax; sc. (brownish-red, 3c. tax) and 12c. (blue) with a 3ic. tax. A series from the Dutch East Indies give designs which show Sisters of Mercy engaged in hospital work for native children. little Prince Albert of Liege, youngest of the Belgian Royal children. The stamp shows a profile sketch of this curly-headed youngster Another special new stamp is a small lc. (green) from Cuba. The design of this shows a mother kneeling before

her small child, who is coming to her lor help. This stamp was-issued for the Children's Tuberculosis Hospitals in Cuba. Some of the stamps mentioned are n trifle costly for young collectors, but low values which give representative designs can be bought quite cheaply now.
