Young Barbarian
TT is unfair to - 1 - bring forward the incomparable Junglo Book for comparison with any work by a modest writer; lot us rather say, therefore. that "Patrick." by Diana Buttcnshaw, illustrated bv Raymond Sheppard, has a similar idea behind it. That is, it is the story of a boy shipwrecked on a tiny island to the west of Scotland, and there brought up by animals, with whom he lives and talks and walks until ho is discovered by a partv of tourists and taken to civilisation and a modern public sch°°l. Not surprisingly, he doesn't fit and escapes back to his island. Tho author is too wise to force a happy end on her imaginary young barbarian.
