STRIKE THREAT
DISPUTE IN AUSTRALIA MOST MINES IN FAVOUR PROGRESS OF VOTING (Received March 6, 8.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 6 Voting at mineworkers' mass meetings on the northern New South Wales coalfields to-day was preponderantly in favour of a general strike beginning next Monday. Seven meetings were held and all but two accepted the strike recommendation of their leaders. At the Wonthaggi State mine in Victoria the strike vote was unanimous. Employees at other coalfields will vote later in the week.
Meetings which rejected the strike recommendation to-day were those at Kurri Kurri by 514 votes to 171 and Adamstpwn by 250 votes to 124.
