VIC. CALTAUX'S PLANS POSSIBLE SYDNEY VISIT There is a possibility that the promising Auckland welter-weight professional boxer Vic Caltaux will make a visit to Sydney shortly in search of matches. Should the trip eventuate, he will be under the managership of Mr. Fred Burr, who handles Mickey Miller, bantam and feather-weight champion of Australia. Although negotiations have not yet reached finality, Mickey Miller may come to New Zealand in the near future, when he will probably compete under the control of the Auckland Boxing Association. The Auckland Association has been considering re-engaging Young Gildo, but the brilliant Filipino has been performing so successfully iu Sydney that he has been offered five more fights by Stadiums, Limited.
The annual boxing championships of the Auckland University College have been fixed for March I'2 at the Auckland gymnasium. The Auckland Boxing Club has taken over new premises at the top of Symonds Street, and it is hoped that the gymnasium will be ready in about a fortnight. Jack Davey is the instructor. About 30 boys are already on the club's list.
