ALLIES' WAR AIMS
A discussion on tlie pamphlet on war aims by the economist G. D. H. Cole, led In- Mr. W. T. G. Airey, was held at a lunch hour meeting of the Auckland branch of the League of Nations Union yesterday. There was an urgent need for a clear statement of war aims, said Mr. Airey, on the part of the British and French Governments. In tin minds of many people the issue had beco,me purely destructive, dealing with what the Aliies were fighting against, not what they were fighting for. The general view arrived at was that a statement of sui-li aims would help considerably to establish a more lasting peace than that following the last war.
