THE MERCHANT MARINE

Sir, —I am an ex-Navy (general and special) man. I was present at the welcome to the H.M.S. Achilles complement of men and was absolutely astounded that once and only once was the mercantile marine mentioned. This is not fair in my opinion, as after all is said and clone they are the chaps who will win this war for England. They bring the food and without this we cannot live. A. Robson.
