DOGS IN WATER
SCHOOL SWIMMING POOLS POSSIBLE DANGER TO HEALTH The possible danger to children's health which could be caused by dogs entering school swimming "pools was emphasised by Mr. H. L. Kayes, a member of the Mount Albert Borough Council, at last night's meeting of the council. Mr. Kayes said a large percentage of dogs on the streets suffered from hydatids, and, as there was no fence surrounding the various school pools in the district, the dogs were free to enter the, water and so, possibly, infect children. 1 • . ■: _ Several times, he said, as many as six clogs had been seen in one particular school pool. He suggested that a barricade should be erected around each pool; to safeguard the health of its users. The Mayor. Mr. H. A. Anderson, said the trouble had already been noticed, and school had decided to take steps immediately. On the recommendation of the Mayor it was decided that the town clerk should advise the other headmasters concerned of the clanger and suggest that, fences should be erected.
