BURGLARS TAKE £l2
THREE PREMISES ENTERED Three business premises in Durham Lane, City, were broken into during the week-end, and £l2 was stolen from a desk in the offices occupied by Swinnock and Company, Limited, machinery suppliers. The thieves attempted to open the safe in the office of Anderson Electrical, Limited, but apparently were disturbed. Nothing was taken from the carpet store of Sargood, Son and Ewen, Limited.
Admission to Sargood's premises appeared to detectives to have been by way of an area at the back of the building, the intruders then forcing a door. After searching the carpet store they opened a downstairs door. A glasspanelled door which gave access to Swinnoclc's promises enabled them to ransack the office, and by forcing' two drawers they obtained £l2 in cash. Another side door was forced with a jemmy, which gave the thieves admission to the rooms occupied by Anderson Electrical, Limited. The handle of the safe was removed and the fact that some keys taken from a desk would have unlocked the sale, but were left elsewhere, suggested the thieves had been disturbed.
