COLONIAL FEDERATION The question of the federation of the Australian. colonies 50 years turned public attention to the subject of federation generally. The following is an extract from the leading Jirticla in the New ,'Sraland Hf.iuid of February 26. 1890:-—.-"We live in a: federating age—federation is in the air. The Australian colonies are preparing to follow the example of the Canadian; and there is little doubt that tho South' African colonies, in face of their now rapid growth, will do the. same before And such arrangements of England| several great colonial groups are preliminary steps toward a. more comprehensive. confederacy of the Ernptf at large."
