MILITARY DANCE
MEN OF SECOND ECHELON [from our own correspondent] WELLINGTON, Monday The unpleasant weather seemed in no way to affect the attendance at the Town Hall on Saturday night, when the A.N.A. Club gave a dance for members of the second echelon. Nearly 1000 dancers took the floor and it Seaks volumes for the committee that is large-scale dance went off without a hitch. Between 400 and 500 soldiers wero present and there was also a number of men from the other services. Novelty dances of various descriptions were popular, and the ten-instrument orchestra was kept busy playing melodies of to-day and yesterday. The hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. E. Puttick and Mrs. Humphrey O'Leary, and the dancing arrangements were in the hands of Miss Phyllis Bates.
A greatly appreciated thought was the gift to each member of the second echelon of a small button-cleaning outfit. the distribution of these being arranged and supervised by Mrs. E. H. Whatley.
