TITLES CONTESTS AT WELLINGTON AUCKLAND TEAM SELECTED Tlio following team has been selected by the Auckland Athletic Centre to compete at the Now Zealand championships, which will bo held at Wellington on March 8 and 9: — .100 Yds, and 220 Yds. —W. Broad Jump, and Hop, Slep and Jump.— C. Calvert. Shot Putt. —Prince J. Gu. Discus Throw.—O. Bogun. Hammer Throw. —S. Whjto. 11. Mansill, Auckland 100 yards and 220 yards champion, is enjoying his first season as a senior. Ho has this year been credited with returning 10s for the JOO yards. S. j. Wade finished second to P. Boot, British Empire champion, in the Centennial mile championship at Wellington recently, and returned the fast time of -lm 17s. lie holds I,ho Auckland milo record, is a past New Zealand mile champion, and tins been provincial champion for the past two years. \V. ,1. Potter of Matamatn, who finished only a yurd behind Wc.de in the Auckland, mile championship and won the three miles championship, is representing Auckland for the first time. K. B. Joyes, of Hamilton, lias won the 220 yards and -MO yards hurdles championships for the past two yeurs. C. Francis, of University, finished third in the last New Zealand marathon championship. C. A. Calvert, of University, was outstanding in the' jumps at the provincial championships. His best effort was in the hop, step and jump, In which he -reached a distance of 40ft Oiu on a muddy track. Prince John Gu, son of Queen Salote of Tonga, although a junior competitor, was outstanding in the Auckland shot putt championship with a putt of 'loft nin, winch was only three-quarters of an inch, off the Auckland record, lie Is IS years of age, weighs JBst 7ib, and is Oft in height. O. Bogun, in winning the discus throw at the provincial championships, established a record of 1 loft 1 in. S. White filled second place in the Auckland hammer throw championship. J, Lcckie, winner of the event and British Empire Games representative, was not avallahlo for selection.
