MATCH FOR TO-DAY AUCKLAND AND OTAGO HIGH SCORING ANTICIPATED The Piunket Shield cricket match between Auckland and Otago will be commenced at Eden Park this morning at' 11 o'clock and be continued next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The visiting side, although not at full strength, contains a number of promising young players, who may do well if the'conditions remain line. Alter the dry spell the wicket and outlield will be fast, and there should be some high scoring. The captain of the Otago side, J).. A. It. Moloney, is a player of wide experience and a New Zealand representative. C. J. Elines, a left-hand batsman and bowler, has also represented New Zealand. Robertson, Eraser, Cutler and Monteath have been showing good form with the bat. Chettleburgh will be remembered for aggressive batting at Eden Park previously and McGregor has the reputation of a big bitter. Lemin, a last-minute selection, is a good medium-pace bowler. The Auckland team for to-day's match is a strong one, and is the same as thai which represented Ihe province against Wellington, with the exception that Carson replaces Cleverley. Auckland was beaten on the first innings in the match at Wellington and Canterbury defeated Otago on the first innings in the game at Christchurch. Friday Honours of the first dnv's play in the Plimkot Sliicld cricket match between Wellington and Canterbury to-day wero all with the Canterbury team, which dismissed Wellington for 195 in the first innings and then ran up 177 for three wickets.
